July 2015:Highest CDI**** Placing!!
|We had a great weekend at Cappeln CDI 4*. JP was 2nd in the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special with consistent 70%+ scores even with mistakes! Zig was 7th in the Inter 1 with over 68%. |
Really proud of both my boys and they get a nice easy week now as a reward!
June 2015: New Irish International Grand Prix Record at Rotterdam CDI!!
So proud of JP (19th June 2015), We set a new Irish record of 73.88%!!!! 4th place behind Edward, HansPeter and Adelinde!!
This was our first really clean test. Although there are a few movements that could have been better so there are certainly more points to come!
The previous Irish record score of 73.23% was set by Anna Merveldt and Bossanova in Munich in 1975.
Credit to Peetsy, that was a massive score back then!

August 2010: Mixed Performances at Cappeln CDI
At the CDI Cappeln, August 19th – 22nd, Remy & I unfortunately didn’t put our best foot forward and produced a below par Grand Prix. On a brighter note though, Vancouver competed in his very first Intermediare 1 and put in a very good effort (65.2%) to come away with 4th place. He qualified for the Intermediare 1 having being placed in the top 10 from the Prix st George the previous day.
August 2010: Double Done at Neuenrade-Küntrop!
At the national show ‘Neuenrade-Küntrop’ on 7th & 8th August, we had a great weekend. We won the Grand Prix class (66.89%) ahead of a strong field and then went on to take the Grand Prix Special as well the next day on a great score of 69.458%. Tumi Inc. sponsored both classes and we were awarded 2 travel cases that will come in very handy with the upcoming trip to Kentucky for WEG!
July 2010: 74.35% wins kur at Nettetal-Lobberich!
Back to winning ways at the national show in Nettetal-Lobberich on 29th & 30th July. Under floodlights on Sunday we won the Kur with a personal best of 74.35% leaving the previous days winning combination of Heiner Scheirgen & World Congress behind by almost 3%!
At the same show, JP (Vancouver), Got his first ‘S’ placing with 5th place in the S level test for young horses. He’s coming on really well, the more advanced the work gets the better he goes! Grand Prix here we come!
July 2010: Big scores not enough at Schlosspark Wickrath
At the SCHLOSSPARKTURNIER, Wickrath (July 23rd & 24th), Remember & I finished in 3rd place in both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Kur classes, scoring over 70% in the Kur, which was held as part of a flood lit gala evening on the Friday.
May 2010: First GP win on the day of my Golden Riders Badge presentation!!
I had my first Grand Prix win 2 weeks ago at a national show not too far from home and I was also presented with the Deutsche Goldenes Reitabzeichen (German Golden Riders Badge) which you get for having 10 wins at ‘S’ level (Prix St. George) and above. This was a great honour for me as I am only the second Irish dressage rider to have earned it. It was so nice at the show in Krefeld as the Kuehnen family really made the presentation ceremony very special for me, and the spectators –though possibly only seeing me for the first or second time- gave me a brilliant reception, cheering and clapping during the lap of honour. I didn’t stop smiling for days!
Ireland now has a team for WEG!!
My 2nd qualifying score with Remember in Stadl Paura means that Ireland has 3 dressage riders qualified for a major championship for only the 2nd time…EVER!! I look forward to linking up with already qualified Anna Merveldt (aka Peetsy) and Yvette Truesdale to represent Ireland on the Big Stage!
April 2010: Congratulations to Successful Students Emma and Dee!!
I’m so happy for Emma Kieran and Deirdre (Dee) Byrne who successfully competed at the Winter Championships in Marlton recently. Emma, on Lifestyle won the Advanced on day 1 and they were just piped for 1st in the Advanced Medium over the 2 days. Dee, on Vivaldi was also placed over the 2 days. This continues some really good performances from the girls having done well at previous shows in Marlton. Both girls get their lessons from me and it makes me very proud to see them doing so well!
April 2010: Trip to Stadl Paura nets 2nd WEG qualification!!!
Remember and I earned our 2nd qualifying score for WEG at the CDI in Stadl Paura, Austria with just below 66%. I’m pleased with the score as there were a few expensive mistakes, 1 tempis and canter zigzag didn’t quite go to plan. But overall I’m happy with how Remy went. All our hard work is starting to pay off and it wont be long before we can start replicating our national scores of over 70% on the international tour!
